Project Description

The Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady of Good Help in Liverpool, originally opened in 1887 and closed in 2011, is being given new life through its conversion into residential accommodation. Octo Architects were appointed to reimagine the vacant church while addressing key challenges, including its location within the Wavertree Conservation Area and existing parking constraints.

The design transforms the church into a modest nine-unit development, with parking sensitively integrated along the frontage through partial removal of the boundary wall, which once enclosed the site. This approach helps the scheme blend more naturally into its surroundings, responding to planning concerns and local context while preserving the historic character of the building..
