Project Description

We were appointed in 2018 to design a single-storey rear extension to a family home in the Wavertree Garden Suburb Conservation Area. The brief was to create a flexible living space connecting the existing kitchen and dining room, while improving the home’s relationship with the garden.

A lengthy planning process delayed the project’s completion until late 2020. The initial application was refused, with concerns raised over the roof shape, overall length, and choice of materials. Confident that the design met all planning requirements — and that the roof form enhanced the Conservation Area — we supported the clients through a successful planning appeal. Construction began in summer 2020, bringing the project to life.
